I will be the first to tell you when I am wrong, or change my opinion. I used to advise people to avoid Allegiant because of their unreliability (based on the days of their MD80s that had numerous maintenance concerns, as well as their 757s that could not maintain a schedule to/from Miami.

Recently I have found myself taking Allegiant more and more and of the last 7-9 flights have only had 1 delay greater than an hour (maintenance delay in FLL for about 3-4 hours). Their Airbus aircraft have seemed to improve their on time /dispatch performance and I suspect this will only continue as the 737s come in from Boeing. I am not sure i am at the point where I would take them when something is urgent/time sensitive (cruise departure) because of their less than daily schedule and inability/unwillingness to rebook on the same day, but their nonstop service is a great option for everything else (where the entire trip is not ruined by a cancellation).

I also recommend their credit card, which quickly converts purchases to easy to use cash credits in your Allegiant profile.
